Hi,
Welcome to Authentic Way.
A little about me -
I live in North Herefordshire, right on the borders of Wales, with my husband Rob (who is a photographer), my youngest son and our Border Collie, Walter.
Now my two sons (who are both musicians) are raised and whilst I miss my ‘family life’ I am excited by this new chapter.
I grew up obsessed with animals and in particular horses. My parents were not horsey at all, so when aged 11, I became the guardian of a one year old part bred Arab mare I learned almost everything from her. That mare got me through so much and was my
world and I will be forever grateful to her.
Leaving school I couldn’t find anywhere in the equine industry where I felt comfortable working and although horses were still a big part of my life I worked as a nanny, then trained as a Montessori teacher and ran a Nursery School for 14 years.
Finding myself divorced my early 30’s, I poured my energy into single parenting and home educating my two boys and the opportunities for horse time were very limited.
I don’t regret this as I healed a lot of wounds from my own childhood.
It was a wild ride for which I will always feel so blessed.
The feelings of bereavement though as I felt this chapter closing were intense. Our lives had been so entangled, it was quite a shock to realise that their passions were not mine and that I could hardly remember what my ‘thing’ was.
I wandered around, in the fog (empty nest) for a while. ‘Nest’ makes it sound quite gentle, in reality it was harsh, I was completely disorientated, felling I had lost myself and my identity. I had had this label for so long and now it was gone and I wasn’t sure who or
what I was any more.
Horses magically wove their way back in to my life and helped me remember, who I was before children, before my career, when I was fully connected to my soul and it’s purpose.
The metaphor of the caterpillar’s transformation has always resonated with me and now I see it clearly: every time I’ve been in a period of transition needing most help to find my way, it is horses who have guided me home.
These generous, wise beings are my greatest teachers, the loves of my life, and the heart of Authentic Way.
